These Rules were explained to us by Michael Silva, the inventor, over a Zoom Call on 7.10.2021. In his words, while they come in the kits, this is seriously going to get your mind going. You will be waiting by your door for your set to come in. Call the family or call the guys over. Get the Girls together as well. Play and enjoy!
RULES of the Football Tailgate Game:
- Set the chairs up around 40 feet apart (suggested and based on skill). For you PRO’s, take it out a bit further.
- Teammates all play on the same side. Play 1 on 1, 2 on 2, or up to 4 on 4. You can place people on the sides as you see fit. 1 on left, 2 on right for example. Maintaining at least 1 on each side for 2 or more people to a team.
How Points are Scored:
Throw into the basket for a Touchdown; that is 6 points
Throw and hit any part of the chair, including the uprights will count for 3 points (Completion)
DEFENSE: If the defending team catches the ball after it bounces off the chair (it must hit the chair first – and cannot be caused by a deflection by the defense) they can take a knee for 3 points. Or they have the option to risk it and return the ball back. If they return the ball, the Defense can come to play and where they are touched, they are down. Then, they get to throw the ball towards the chair for the points. 1 Attempt only here.
POINTS AFTER SCORING A TOUCHDOWN:
You must kick the ball from the T. If you get through the uprights, that is 1 point. If it lands in the bucket it’s called a “FITZ”, and it is an instant WIN for the kicking team! GAME OVER, cry about it, and ask for a rematch.
If the KICK is wide right or wide left, the ball comes into play. The defense can catch and return with the same rules as an interception.
WINNIG TEAM: Must score 54 Points to win. Once a team hits 54 points, they have to win by 2 more points. Once hitting the winning amount, the other team gets a chance if it’s within 7 points.
THE HAIL MARY:
If you are down by more than 8 points. You MUST step back the number of steps back equal to how many points you are behind. If you make it into the bucket, your team wins and crushes your opponent! Is this sounding fun yet?!?!
